Preston Emotional Health Consortium (PEHC)

This project was delivered by a Consortium of local agencies that included NACRO, Bluestreak Art, Fishwick Rangers Youth Development Scheme and INTACT as well as Ashton Community Science College.

The project provided a mixture of targeted support and activity sessions to support young people through focused activities which promote emotional health and self esteem.

The project has had a very positive impact in a short space of time. Examples of work include:

  • focussed work by NACRO with children and young people and families to support behaviour in school and improve attendance as well as prevent offending behaviour
  • Ashton Community Science College supporting pupils and families to build family links through better parenting as well as counselling
  • Arts provision at locations throughout Preston as well as play schemes and a comprehensive sports programme.

The total number of young people who benefited from the project between March 2010 and March 2011 was over 710 and reinforces the benefits of working together both with frontline projects and at a Children's Trust level.
