Carers week 13-19 June 2011: Think young carer

A young carer is a person under 18 years of age who is significantly affected by caring for a person with a long term illness or disability including mental health issues or substance misuse.

It is estimated that there are 3,700 young people in Lancashire providing some level of care to another person. This amounts to 2% of all young people in Lancashire and 3% 0f all carers in Lancashire.

To find out how you can support young carers please see the attached Charter drafted and designed by Lancashire's Young Carers Forum.

To find out more about the young carers projects please see attached project details sheet.
