Stonewall: Challenging Homophobia Screening

Details, booking form and two posters are attached

On behalf of Lancashire County Council Challenging Homophobia and Transphobia in Educational Settings Group, Lancashire Young People's Service and Healthy Schools Team would like to invite teachers, school health and young people's workers to a screening of the new anti-homophobia DVD from Stonewall, "FIT" and the opportunity to explore supporting resources.

The events will take place from 4.30 pm - 6.30 pm for:-

East Lancashire on Tuesday 11 May at Accrington New Era Youth & Community Centre

North Lancashire on Thursday 13 May at Garstang Youth & Community Centre

The timing has been chosen so that it is in the run-up to International Day Against Homophobia on 17 May 2010.

"FIT" is a good new resource that has recently been sent by Stonewall to every secondary school in the UK.  The DVD is based on a live drama presentation that was seen by over 20,000 school students, receiving excellent responses from both staff and pupils.  The running time is 105 minutes but it can also be viewed as individual episodes.  I really recommend this resource which is intelligent, powerful and has high credibility with young people.

We are putting on this screening of "FIT" so that people working with young people can view it, discuss the issues and consider how to address them in their own workplace.  A complete DVD resource pack can be downloaded from the Stonewall website ( along with trailers, music downloads and wallpapers and the themes explored in "FIT" should complement work on equality and diversity, and discrimination.
