Children & Young People's Commissioners Group

The Children & Young People's Commissioners Group is responsible for identifying and overseeing shared commissioning opportunities between Children & Young People's Trust partners:

Commissioning is the process used to make the best use of available resources to make a positive difference to families' lives. The process follows 4 stages: understand, plan, do and review.

We are often able to make a bigger difference to families' lives by commissioning together for a common aim and bringing resources together or redesigning existing services to achieve that aim.

The Children & Young People's Commissioners Group includes commissioners from the NHS, Lancashire County Council and the Police and Crime Commissioner and also includes representatives from schools and the third sector.

The group is also responsible for ensuring that the commissioning activities undertaken by all partners are underpinned by the principles and standards set out in the Lancashire CYP Trust Commissioning Framework

The group is currently overseeing the development and implementation of shared commissioning in the following areas:

  • Safeguarding
  • Lancashire Improving Futures
  • Health & Wellbeing
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
